It's Who Knows You: Networking Your Way to Success ReviewI originally got this book for my wife, since she had just received a promotion at work and she's a dog lover. I thought the combination of the two would be good for her, since she's not a big reader of business books on leadership. I ended up reading the whole thing myself... and she got it after I was through.
McArdle's love for dogs is apparent throughout the book, but her insights about people and performance are what makes this book sing. Ramerman's contributions at the end of each chapter -- he calls them High-Gain Insights -- are great practical ideas on how to put the principles of each chapter to good use in your own work situation.
This is a FUN business book that doesn't read like a business book... but still delivers on sound, memorable business advice and information. It's a quick read, even at 200+ pages, and the stories alone are enough to make you want to keep reading. I found particular value in the chapters titled "Become An Encouraging Presence", "Find Joy", and "If You Want To Have Fewer Conflicts, Have More Of Them".
I liked it so much that I'll be giving out several of these as holiday gifts this year... especially to those who I know are dog lovers.It's Who Knows You: Networking Your Way to Success Overview
