A Deleuzian Approach to Curriculum: Essays on a Pedagogical Life (Education, Psychoanalysis, and Social Transformation) ReviewIt is somewhat difficult to say exactly what this book is, although in terms of what it advocates, this is not the right question to begin its assessment anyway. It might be better to ask what this book does - and in terms of curriculum theory and art education, it does a lot, reengaging increasingly cliche preoccupations with identity, representational thinking, and epistemology in lieu of a pedagogical ethics the likes of which I have yet to see in contemporary curriculum thought. To draw on the kind of unfortunate cliche what author attempts to avoid, this book is a breath of fresh air without becoming the kind of playful or speculative work typically associated with that phrase. While I found that the book contained several impenetrable passages, what resonated with me resonated very strongly.
